Get your lenses ready and join the 2011 Malagos Farm Fair “FUN at the FAIR” Photo Contest! You don’t have to be a professional photographer and you don’t need a fancy camera. All you need to do is join us at the Malagos Farm Fair on August 6 or 7 at Malagos Garden Resort, secure a valid Entry Form upon entry, follow the contest guidelines, snap some great shots, send in your entries, and most of all have fun! Prizes await the best photos courtesy of Tekpone and Sun Cellular!

(1) WHO MAY ENTER
The contest is open to all paying guests of the Malagos Farm Fair on August 6 and 7, 2011. Registrants can participate in only one of the three categories, with a maximum of 3 entries per registrant:

• YOUTH CATEGORY – for amateur practitioners, 18 years of age and below.
• HOBBYIST/AMATEUR CATEGORY – for amateur practitioners, 19 years of age and above, who pursue photography outside his/her regular occupation, engaged primarily for personal fulfillment.
• PROFESSIONAL CATEGORY – professional practitioners who derive income from the sale of photographs and/or provision of photography services.

(2) CONTEST DURATION
The Photo Contest begins 6 August at 8:00 AM and ends 7 August at 5:00 PM. All entries must be received by 10 August 2011, 5:00 PM.

(3) ENTRY REQUIREMENT
Photos should creatively demonstrate the concept “FUN at the FAIR.” Interpretation thereof will be subject to the discretion of the entrant.

Entries must comply with all entry requirements as follows:

• The Photographs, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the entrant. By entering the contest, entrant represents, acknowledges and warrants that the submitted Photograph is an original work created solely by the entrant and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the Photograph; nor does the Photograph substantially take from or imitate the work of someone else.
• Obscene, provocative, or otherwise objectionable content will not be considered.
• Photo manipulation is not permitted; this include multiple exposure and compositing. Cropping and brightness/contrast adjustment are allowed.

(4) HOW TO ENTER
Contestants can enter photographs taken using digital cameras. Original files should  be submitted together with the entry.

Digital entry should be in JPEG format, at 300 dpi. File size should be at least 3Mb but no larger than 10Mb.

The file name/label must carry the name of the entrant and the key subject (eg., JDelaCruz.Ostrich.jpg). Short caption (description and date taken) should also accompany each photograph.

To send entries:

• Upon entry at the Resort during the Farm Fair, present your Tickets at the Photo Contest Booth to secure a valid Entry Form.
• You can submit your entries with the Entry Form at the Photo Contest Booth at the Farm Fair, or email the completed and scanned Entry Form with the data file/s (Photograph/s) to photocontest@malagos.com.
• Entrant can send color and monochrome (B&W, sepia, etc.) photographs.
• Entrants shall allow Malagos Garden Resort/Malagos Farm Fair the right to reproduce, exhibit, publish, or use any photograph/s for promotional or publication purposes without remuneration of any kind. Due acknowledgement will be given every time a photograph is used.

(5) JUDGING
The contest consist of one (1) round of evaluation. Entries will be evaluated based on the following criteria weighted as follows.

• Relevance to the theme 35%
• Composition and Creativity 35%
• Clarity and technical quality 30%

The judging will be conducted by Malagos Farm Fair Oganizers and the judges will consist of two professional photographers, one photography hobbyist, one youth photography enthusiast, and a representative of Tekpone as the Photo Contest Sponsor.

• Contest starts: 6 August 2011, 8:00 am and will end 7 August 2011, 5:00 pm
• Deadline for submission of entries: 10 August 2011, 5:00 pm
• Judging: 14 August 2011
• Announcement of winners: on or before 17 August 2011

(6 ) PRIZES
One (1) Grand Prize winner, and two (2) Runners Up will be chosen in each of the 3 categories (Youth, Hobbyist, and Professional).
Prizes are not transferable and may not be substituted by the prize winners or redeemed for cash. Prizes can be claimed at the Malagos Garden Resort Davao Sales Office, within sixty (60) days from receipt of notification. Winners must present a valid I.D.

(7) NOTIFICATION
Winners will be notified through phone, email or registered mail by 17 August 2011. Winning entries will be in the Malagos Garden Resort website and other  print publications.

Malagos Farm Fair 2010 Poster

We hope to see you all at the Malagos Farm Fair on August 7 & 8 at Malagos Garden Resort!

The Malagos Farm Fair was conceptualized as an occasion to sell the menagerie of farm animals the Puentespina Family grows. We find great pleasure and fulfillment in raising dairy goats, cows, sheep, cocks, horses, peacocks, pheasants, ostriches, fancy chickens, dogs, and ornamental birds.

And what better way of sharing this bounty of fulfillment than an “open house”! We have decided to open our farms and show interested would-be farmers what it takes to have a cacao farm, a dairy goat and cow operation, the organic fertilizer and vermi – culture project. And to make the day more interesting, we have invited our industry partners to promote and sell their products, give seminars on farming, animal raising, cheese making, industry updates, farm games, adventure race, food tasting, and when the sun sets, relax with wine & cheese or beer pairing.

Hopefully, the fair will become a regular agriculture tourism event where neighbor farmers can showcase and sell their produce, be it animals, vegetables, fruits, delicacies and crafts. And turn Malagos Farm Fair into an alternative destination for weekend family bonding and a wellspring of ideas for future farmers.

Malagos Garden Tops Kadayawan 2009 Floral Float Winners

THE Malagos Garden Resort, a top favorite of visitors to have their souvenir photos with, topped the big float category in the Pamulak Kadayawan, the floral float parade and competition, Sunday.

Total number of contingents exceeded a hundred, although less than half of these joined the competition.

At second place in the big float c

ategory is Suara Sug for Samsung, while at third place is Sonshine Media Network.

In the small float category, at first place is Synnex Concentrix. Second is constant winner SUL Orchids, while the Bagobo-Clata tribe copped the third place.

Consolation prizes went to DMI Medical Supply-MX3 and the Maguindanaon Tribe.

At first place in the alternative float category is Sr. Sto. Niño de Palaboy. Second place is Barangay Sasa, while third is Barangay 5-A.

Consolation prize winners are the Matigsalog Tribe and George Cepada. (SAE)
