The Malagos Garden Resort Koi Ponds

The Malagos Garden Resort is now home to at least 180 beautiful Koi fishes. The resort currently has three Koi Ponds strategically placed at the side of Roberto’s, Viewdeck, and one at the Koi Park. In each, you will get to enjoy various kinds of Koi. From our longest one-- the enchanting Yamabuki all the way to the biggest one, the massive Red Chagoi, each one of them will surely relax and amaze you at the same time.

Koi fish have intrigued and inspired us for centuries. They have been called “living jewels” and “swimming flowers” for their physical beauty. They are also rich with symbolic significance, especially in Asian cultures. The name “koi” is Japanese, but it is believed these large carp have origins in Eastern Asia, Persia and China. Koi can range in size significantly depending upon their aquatic environment. They’re adorned with bright colors that can include yellow, orange, gold, white, black, silver and a calico mix. Their intricate colors and patterns coupled with their calm and graceful swim is enough for you to get lost in the water for a while.

Koi Fish are known for their ability to climb rushing streams and waterfalls until they reach their destination. They are determined fighters that do not give up. This is why the pond beside Roberto’s was designed to have flowing water and a mini waterfall. This is to emphasize the significance of tenacity and hard work in anywhere you are. Paired with beautiful floras all over the pond-- from the light and enchanting Aglaonema all the way to the dainty Moonlights, it is quite a feast to the eye.

A legend from ancient China tells how Koi that succeeded in climbing the Yellow River falls near Dragon Gate became dragons. In this way, koi symbolizes evolution, growth and transformation. Koi also symbolize a willingness to stand out from the crowd. Their determined nature embodies both creative self-expression and a fighting spirit. Most of our greatest mission is to remain focused on the goal of enlightenment despite turbulent waters all around. The touchstone of Buddha Nature is always there, and koi inspire us in their ability to stay focused and succeed with grace and style. Koi fish embody a quiet beauty and mystery that’s both peaceful and intriguing. This is why the pond near Viewdeck is noticeably much deeper than the others. This signifies a chance for growth and maturity of each Koi. By letting them grow with us at Malagos Garden Resort, we can also showcase to everyone that the deeper and darker things may be, there will always be room for growth and change.
