Malagos Garden Resort is home to the different produce, fruit-bearing trees, herbs, flora, and fauna. Nature has become our greatest teacher and instrument in our continual pursuit of sustainable and sophisticated life-sustaining practices. Through observing the environmentally-ethical ways of farming and gardening, we link the uncultivated world to our humanity and absorb the ultimate lesson that we cannot and should not control nature.

Malagos Garden Resort’s goal of providing experiences refined by nature was not reduced but rather amplified in the new normal. We’ve gone from providing our customers a place where they breathe in the wonders of nature to giving them a healthier and hassle-free option in surviving the pandemic. 

Today, we’re sharing a little bit of our not-so-secret homegrown process to give you an idea on how we keep the flavor and quality of our produce, products and services.

Planting

Before the crisis outbreak, we got this question a lot “What to eat in Malagos Garden Resort?”. The answer is in what we plant and how we plant them. We plant our produce in season and we’re also not using pesticides in growing them. This all-natural process of planting helps us in producing davao food specialty like the Beef Caldereta with Malagos Cheese.

Our meals, including beef caldereta with Malagos cheese, were once served in our restaurants before the outbreak. These were made from the produce that we have in our farms. Irrigating

It’s always a fundamental step to sustainably develop ways of irrigating your garden before you plant anything, especially when you have a large farm or garden. Our garden’s irrigation comes from an all-natural source too. Our produce gets soaked from the scattered and random rain showers in the area. The soil is also rich enough because the area is abundantly surrounded by water reservoirs. This process helps us in keeping the quality of our produce. 

Harvesting

Harvest time is when you will reap the satisfaction of all your hard work and deep attention to the garden. If plants are harvested properly, they will continue to produce delicious fruits and vegetables over a longer period of time. Each time we gather our bounty, we do not forget to properly wash, weigh, and store it, so we can safely deliver it to our physical store downtown. Harvesting the garden sounds simple — and it is — but it also requires some familiarity with how to harvest each plant. 

The real secret that we want to share is that we wouldn’t be able to produce a davao food specialty like the Malagos Chocolate Humba or any of our food selections if we didn’t go through the initial steps – those are crucial!
