It should then be transferred to a moist, sunny, and warm place. Like any other, the pineapple plant should be given ample food and water to make sure it grows. It may take several years, but eventually, a red cone should appear from the center of the leaves, followed by blue flowers and finally a fruit. It takes about six months for the fruit to fully develop. The pineapple will grow from the flower, above ground, in the center of the plant.

Deciding when to harvest the pineapple is the most important step. Homegrown pineapples are left to fully ripen on the plant without any chemical to help it reach its peak. If harvested too soon, it will not be as sweet.
