The Month of Change and New Greener Experiences
New beginnings are budding.
For the month of August, we’ve seen Dabawenyos’ resilience and creativity in a different light. We are now in our fifth month in the battle against the coronavirus. The number of cases is still rising and claiming more lives by the day. Still, we carry on. For the sake of our loved ones, we do what we can to get by.
The Malagos Garden Resort has always been here through the years to offer you a quick getaway refined by the raw experience with nature. Since then, your safety has always been our utmost priority. With this in mind, we still cannot open our doors to you yet. But as a gentle reminder that we are still with you in this fight, the Malagos Garden Resort through the Malagos Homegrown Produce has released our new products: a wide variety of indoor plants you can easily take care of at home. To make sure each of them survives, here’s a few tips to remember.
If you are still making your way around, make sure to choose low-maintenance houseplants. Before growing your own plant, remember to make a thorough research on the plants you want to bring home to. Where they strive, how much light they need, and what else should you prepare for them. Some of the easiest, no-fuss houseplants you may want to try first are the Pothos, Fiddle Leaf, and the Aglaonema.
Edible gardening is a must try. Growing your food inside is one of the most rewarding hobbies there is. A popular and fun choice is keeping culinary herbs in your kitchen window. Basil is the perfect container-friendly, easy-to-grow herb for this. Rosemary, Tarragon, and small citrus trees like Calamansi can also bring an added spice to the mix.
As important as knowing the kind of light each plant requires, proper drainage is essential too. To put it simply: never put your plant in pots that do not have a drainage hole. It will die. Some pots already have their own drainage along with built-in drip pans on the bottom. These pots should always be your go-to choice.
When we look back, it all started with Dalgona Coffee. In an instant, almost everyone is starting to try and perfect the recipe. When the hype slowly died down, it gave rise to the Davao Barter Community. From a mother bartering a used crib for her son’s milk all the way to a young teenager bartering her pre-loved clothes for an android phone to use during online classes, the community built a stronger sense of bayanihan in each of us. In the midst of us reaching to one another, the plant craze came through. These days, people are now raving on where to buy affordable indoor plants online. With your convenience and safety in mind, we at the Malagos Garden Resort were quick to bring to you various beautiful plants fresh from the gardens of Malagos.
Looking at it closely, all the craze we’ve been doing the past few months is really a matter of trying to be sane in the midst of all the chaos. While we do not know when this will end, we are hopeful that very soon we can open our doors and enjoy experiences refined by nature with you again. For the meantime, enjoy a piece of Malagos’s bounty through our potted herbs and ornamental plants. May each one grow and prosper with you.
