A Farmer’s Story
In the past few months, one thing kept us going: to keep you safe in the fight against coronavirus. These days, time can be a ruthless master. One moment it's still March and we are still grappling with all the changes happening all at once, the next it is now the start of “-ber” months and despite the pandemic, you can still feel everyone is looking forward to Christmas. We are nearing the end of the year but our fight is not yet done.
The onset of the pandemic was a big blow to all of us. Regardless of life status, gender, age, we all felt the impact that it brought not only to our health but to all other aspects of our everyday lives. We used to think it was just a common flu that would pass and trickle down in a matter of a short time. But as days turned to weeks and weeks turned to months, with no vaccine yet available, we began to understand the seriousness of the situation. One who took some of the huge blows are our local farmers.
The Malagos Garden Resort, one of Davao’s best resorts, first took the initiative to shift our gears and become an online market of fresh produce for our farmers. The goal was to help them as much and as often as we can. From there, we added meal kits made from their farm-fresh homegrown produce and now we have Malagos Garden Resort’s ornamental plants for sale too. The plant parents craze is all over the internet and the number of people adopting it is overwhelming. In the midst of all the hype, here are some of our farmers’ opinions.
It feels like we are sharing a part of us with you. Our farmers grow and nurture plants with tenderness and attention to each detail. By seeing more and more people grow their own Davao ornamental plants, it also feels like they are sharing with you one of the important keys to how they get by. Make sure to give each plant enough sunlight, adequate water, and watch with pride as they grow and bloom with you.
A piece of nature in every home and we cannot be more humble about it. Greener homes and greener lives do more to you than you can ever imagine. From growing your own food to giving you fresh, clean air every day, these are some of the simple yet meaningful joys in life.
This one is for a greener future. Before the onset of the pandemic, we all thought we were invincible. That no virus or tech-related problems can hamper the progress we are making. The pandemic made us realize how vulnerable we really are. This is mostly the reason why more and more people are going back to nature. With the plant craze going on, our farmers are hoping that this sensation will last for years to come.
It may not feel much but you are helping not only yourself but also our local farmers every time you choose to buy and grow seedlings from them. These days, we rise by lifting one another. Help us resonate with this cause to the world and grow your own local plants from local farmers too. Head on to the Malagos Homegrown Produce and nurture yours today. Happy gardening!
