National Arts Month: Art in Nature
Nature is everywhere and so is art. It is seen in the gradient petal prints of a waling-waling orchid, in the beautiful architecture of a beehive, or in stacked trees where their crowns do not touch each other, forming a beautiful canopy of gaps. Art, in its fundamental form, is found in nature.
It is also said that one becomes their own artist when they commune with nature and use natural elements like dried leaves, twigs, mud, stones, etc. in their artwork. It is an art activity that has helped shape the creative thinking of children that’s why it has been instilled in most schools. It’s also a great activity for adults who seek a different activity that does not involve any technological device. Some people even use it as a tool during therapy sessions where a person can process his/her thoughts about grief and trauma and achieve healing with the help of his/her natural surroundings and by doing activities that are refined by nature.
Most artists also find inspiration from nature. Renowned artists like Vincent Van Gogh and Georgia O’Keefe, whose paintings were mostly about natural landscapes, gardens, and flowers, are proof of how art can be heavily influenced by nature. Nature has been the source of inspiration for artists and for anyone who needs a little boost in their creative thinking.
