What to Expect Under General Community Quarantine Despite the continued rise in confirmed cases, Davao City proceeded to transition under a General Community Quarantine last May 16, 2020. Some are for this transition while others fear this might cause an even bigger outbreak. Uncertain still of what this will actually entail, here is what to expect under the General Community Quarantine:

Heavy traffic from city to city. Despite a limited number of public utility vehicles, borders stationed in entry and exit ways from city to city still observe a thorough screening of people who go out from their respective cities and municipalities. This will entail of course heavy traffic at borders as most workers travel from city to city every day for work as some wouldn’t think it is practical to rent a place within the city given the limited capacity of business operations.

Leisure establishments are still not allowed to open. You might want to hold off on that Sunday Family day appointment. Section 4 (9) of the IATF Omnibus Guidelines mentions not allowing gyms, theaters, bars, playgrounds, museums, tourist destinations and the like to open just yet as movement is limited to necessary purposes still and not for leisure. Don’t cancel your weekend and day off plans at home, there’s still more time to focus on that backyard garden project you’ve been doing with the kids.

Increase in confirmed cases. As more people start to move with ease, the more the virus can spread with ease as well. That is why safety measures such as physical distancing, wearing of face masks, avoiding mass gatherings, and the like should strictly be followed now more than ever to prevent this increase.
