The Lush Gardens of Malagos

Malagos Garden Resort

Malagos Garden Resort is a 12 hectare inland Nature Theme Resort located in Brgy. Malagos, Calinan, Davao City. Known as one of Davao’s best resorts, we offer a unique blend of art, commerce, and nature amidst the cool mountain breeze of the highlands of Davao City. We have closed our doors during the onset of the pandemic but we will soon be opening them again to share with you experiences refined by nature. For the meantime, we have been sharing a piece of the lush Malagos garden through the potted herbs and ornamental plants available in the Malagos Homegrown Produce.

We have recently rolled out the first batch of our ornamental plants best added as indoor accents to give your home a more elegant and earthy tone. While each one may have been a pleasant surprise to you, we have more from where they came from. For now, we will be sharing five beautiful plants that will soon be available for your home.

Fern. Ferns are one of the oldest types of plants in existence, dating back over 350 million years. They are one of the most popular types of plants used for shaded areas, as they thrive in low light conditions, bringing much-needed greenery and life to dark and dull corners of both gardens and homes. All ferns love moisture and should be given humid conditions.

Foxtail Palm Tree. This is an adaptable, fast growing specimen. Grown in a wide range of soils, the only requirements are that the soil must be well draining and not highly acidic. Tolerant of salty sea spray and wind, the foxtail palm tree is an excellent choice for those who live near the ocean.

Snake Plant. Known as the mother-in-law’s tongue is one of the most popular and hardy species of houseplants. An architectural species, it features stiff leaves that range from six inches to eight feet tall, depending on the variety. Snake Plants usually have green banded leaves, while the variety commonly known as Mother-In-Law's Tongue typically features a yellow border.

Monstera. Monsteras are famous for their natural leaf-holes, and have led to the rise of its nickname, Swiss Cheese Plant. They are unique, easygoing houseplants whose dramatic leaves are adorned with dramatic hole formations.Monstera needs lots of space: Put it in a statement-making spot in the living room, rather than in a tight corner or on a windowsill.

Moses-in-the-Cradle. The Moses-in-the-Cradle plant (Tradescantia spathacea) is a pretty houseplant with green and purple leaves. It grows small and white flowers. It needs to grow in a bright location with partial shade. Keep the potting mix moist by watering when the top 1” (2.5 cm) of the soil is dry.

These are only a few of the plants that will soon be available at Malagos Homegrown Produce. Buy from our humble store and support local small businesses and resorts in Davao City. Years from now, when all your plants grow and prosper with you, you will reap the benefits of supporting a local business like ours. Happy gardening!
