Throwback Thursday: The Story of Rediscovering Malagos

Malagos Garden Resort

The Malagos Garden Resort is known to be a 12 hectare inland nature theme resort that offers experiences refined by nature. But it was a long and tedious journey before it came to this. It was in 1994 when the Malagos Garden Resort first opened its doors to the public. Back then, we only had an area of barely one hectare with a restaurant, swimming pool, and orchid park to showcase collections of Native Philippine Orchids. We have grown so much since then. Years passed and we were able to make the name as one of the top resorts in Davao City.

In 2016, we relaunched the Malagos Garden Resort with the theme; “Rediscover nature, rediscover Malagos.” With this, we introduced the Malagos Science in the Park, the best place to relax in Davao City. Here, you enjoyed being up close and personal with nature and embraced the culture and homegrown premiums along with it.

The Bird Feeding Dome. This houses free-flying endemic birds, ornamental poultry, and livestock species. In here, you encountered the Mindanao Lorikeets, Guaiaberos, Sunbirds, Peafowls, and so much more. The Bird Feeding Dome is also where you can feed the birds right at the palm of your hand. May said, it was indeed an experience to remember, a grounding of some sort.

The Petting Zoo. In here, you were able to feed your farm friends in this one of a kind encounter. This is a mini zoo tailored fit for the kids to enjoy petting and feeding a variety of domesticated species. With rabbits, hamsters, donkeys, and a pony, each trip in this part of the resort has always been extra fun.

The Museo de Mariposa. Tagged as the science of change, the place is a   Butterfly Sanctuary which has 5 net covered domes with butterfly species. The museum, on the other hand, highlights different butterfly-related facts, trivia, items, and audio-visual presentations. It appeals to most of the senses but more importantly, it took you to a whole new level of reconnection and recollection with the beautiful cycle of a butterfly’s life.

The Malagos Chocolate Museum. This holds the wonderful colors of freshly picked cacaos and its tree to bar experience. Beside it is the chocolate factory, the chocolate cafe, and the infamous Malagos Chocolate Park where you can see ice creams, lollipops, and chocolate statues all over the area. This was a huge hit for kids and family out there. You not only learned more about where your favorite chocolates come from, you were also able to make one yourself complete with all the nutty, sweet goodness you want.

Challenge your limits in the great outdoors. In Malagos Garden Resort, a highland resort in Davao City, you are never too young for adventure! Kids Rope Course that educates children on simple machines such as wheel and axle, wedge, pulley, lever, screw, inclined plane all set out in 14 stations which everybody loved.

These are only some of the activities we offered to make you re-acquaint with nature once again. Very soon, we will be re-opening our doors with new and much more exciting offers. Don’t miss out! Follow us on facebook to know more about what we are brewing. See you
