3 Malagos Garden Resort Kadayawan Activities We All Miss
Kadayawan Festival has always been the most celebrated festival in Davao City. In fact, the celebration of Kadayawan every third week of August has been institutionalized in 1995. Up to this day, Kadayawan is still one of the biggest festivals in the country said to be non-religious and even dubbed as the King of Festivals in the Philippines.
Davao resorts have always been actively participating in this colorful activity. Tagged as Davao’s best activity of the year, each one always has a trick up their sleeve to make Kadayawan celebrations a bit more fun and vibrant than the previous years. This year, we were looking forward to spending this celebration with you. However, the onset of the pandemic won’t permit us to. All major celebrations in Davao City for the year 2020 have been cancelled. But no need to fret! They say that along with nostalgia comes a little bit of comfort that we were able to enjoy things before. With this, for a little flashback Friday, we are sharing with you three of the most iconic activities we annually prepare for you during your Kadayawan at Malagos moments:
Malagos Kadayawan Bazaar. Annually, Malagos Garden Resort hosts a Kadayawan Bazaar that showcases all of our proudly local products and produce. The bazaar has fresh fruits and vegetables, various colorful flowers, dainty and earthy seedlings, Davao delicacies, and Davao souvenir items to remember the festivity and the City by. Upon entering our resort, you will immediately see various fruits and vegetables displayed in our front office. With Durian, bananas, and our very own cacao, it is indeed a celebration of a bountiful season.
Malagos Davao-Themed Buffet. Upon celebrating Kadayawan with us, we also offer a scrumptious Davao buffet for you and the family. Complete with your favorites Humba, Kare-Kare, and Calderata paired with fresh fruits of the season, it was a fiesta gastronomic experience for you and the family. To top it off, you also enjoyed the flavors of Davao and farm to table goodness at the Malagos Garden Resort with our coolest and special offer during the Kadayawan Season: the Avocado and Durian ice cream.
Malagos Cultural Show. While you were enjoying the indulgent flavors of our Davao-themed buffet, you also enjoyed the cultural dance performance of our young and talented performers from the Malagos community. Rich with diverse culture and intricate stories, each performance speaks a story of what we are celebrating for. A mix of Bagobo dance and folk dances to honor our ancestors, it was one of the most enriching experiences we have shared with you.
Davao Kadayawan Festival is truly one of a kind. This is the time where we celebrate the bounty of the season for the year. Despite the onset of the pandemic, we do have to admit that we were still able to enjoy the bounty of produce our land has to offer for us. Each tree and plants carefully nurtured and grown by our local farmers, each is a blessing we all enjoy. While the Kadayawan activities downtown are all grand, colorful, and crowded-- with the floral float parade, cultural dance competition, and the search for Hiyas ng Davao, it was always the most colorful part of the year. But if you are one who wants to celebrate in a quiet, tranquil place, then the Malagos Garden Resort has always been the best choice.
We may not be able to enjoy this year’s Kadayawan together but we always make sure to keep a part of us with you. With this, we have the Malagos Homegrown Produce. Order Malagos gourmet ready-to-cook meals and feast on the bounty of flavors and culture of the City we will always love. Head on to Malagos Homegrown Produce and have your very own Kadayawan at home with us. Madayaw Dabaw!
