5 Sunday Activities We Miss at Malagos

They say that nostalgia is missing what once was. As the famous novelist, Marcel Proust puts it “Remembrance of things past is not necessarily the remembrance of things as they were.” It has been months since we closed our doors to ensure your safety. Very soon, the  Malagos Garden Resort will soon offer experiences refined by nature to you again. With this, here are five of the infamous Sunday activities in the resort that we all miss.

Bird Show. Most animal shows use wildlife conservation as a spiel for their bird shows. Malagos Garden Resort’s bird shows on the other hand, embodies the true mission of making the audience be aware not just of the wonders of these birds but the call for the need of its conservation. The set features a background with tree props that were cut in half and you would think it’s just for design but each of the stage components all have a story to tell—the cut down trees for example is used as an example on what illegal urbanization is doing to our wildlife’s natural habitats. The Malagos Bird Show also shed some light on how illegal urbanization also impacts the local tribes who praise, worship, and protect our species as part of their tradition. These tribes are being driven out from their ancestral lands and as a result, no one is left to protect our species. They also show a small glimpse of the dominant tribe within the area, some small beliefs and practices that are actually brought about by the birds’ biological indicators that are quite interesting to know. More than the entertainment, we have a true story to tell.

Animal Show. This is a fun filled activity which gives the kids a chance to encounter up close and personal some of the domesticated animals in the resort. By participating in this activity, you will learn about the vital role these farm friends play in the ecosystem from the hardworking keepers who’ve been with them the longest. As part of Malagos Garden Resort’s mission to refine your experiences through nature, you can interact with the all-star cast after their performance. Feed the goats, pet the mini horses, or cuddle with the rabbits - there’s just so much you can do in this activity designed not just to educate, but entertain you as well.

Wonders of the Night. As nightfall approaches, guests are taken to another intimate and insightful 15-minute walkthrough with some of the resort’s nocturnal birds. Come up close and have your cameras ready for as you learn more about the behavior and rescue stories behind these fascinating nighttime creatures.

Chocolate Museum. This holds the wonderful colors of freshly picked cacaos and its tree to bar experience. Beside it is the chocolate factory, the chocolate cafe, and the infamous Malagos Chocolate Park where you can see ice creams, lollipops, and chocolate statues all over the area. This was a huge hit for kids and family out there. You not only learned more about where your favorite chocolates come from, you were also able to make one yourself complete with all the nutty, sweet goodness you want.

Buffet. You were able to taste the bounty of local flavors in the indulgent buffet the resort offers. Complete with your favorites Humba with Malagos Chocolate, Kare-Kare, and Calderata paired with fresh fruits of the season, it was a fiesta gastronomic experience for you and the family.
